Covering some 2.2 milion acres and located in the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, Yellowstone was America's first national park. The park is home to a large variety of wildlife including grizzly bears, wolves, coyotes, bison, and elk. Preserved within park is Old Faithful and a collection of the world's most extraordinary geysers and hot springs, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. During the summer months the park is very crowded. However, in winter Yellowstone experiences heavy snows and extremely low temperatures. No doubt this is the primary reason for it being relatively deserted during winter. Nevertheless, it is probably at it's most beautiful during this period.
