The latest updates to Camera Raw (17.3), Lightroom Classic (14.3) and Lightroom Desktop (8.3) have been released to customers via the Creative Cloud App. These updates include new camera and lens support along with minor feature enhancements and bug fixes.

Landscape Masking [Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic & Desktop]

A new AI based Masks to detect Landscape features as listed below is now available.

• Sky
• Mountains
• Architecture
• Vegetation
• Water
• Artificial Ground
• Natural Ground

As shown in below screenshot, the list of features actually listed in the Landscape mask UI is dependent on the photo.

Note that when more than one of the masking options is selected, then you’re given the option to create 2 separate masks. For example, below screenshots show (left) only one mask is created with components for the sky and water, and in the other (right) two separate masks are created.

 

The selections should work in a similar fashion to other selections in the masking panel, and can also be added/subtracted/intersected/copied and pasted, etc.

Manage Recent Catalogs [Lightroom Classic]

An option to Manage recent catalogs is now available from the File > Open Recent menu. When the ‘Manage Catalogs…’ menu option is selected a dialog opens. This dialog will contain a list of the catalogs found on your computer. The catalogs are listed in descending order based on their ‘Last Modified Date’.

• Remove From Recent Removes only the selected catalog from the list.
• Remove All: Removes all catalogs from the list.

Checkerboard Support [Lightroom Classic]

Support has been added for showing a checkerboard pattern in the transparent areas. It is supported in all Develop Module views and Photo Merge Preview dialog.

Other Updates [Lightroom Classic]

Resetting preferences using the Preferences dialog will clear all Lightroom Classic cache from the following locations:

• Win: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Lightroom\Caches
• Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom

Camera Tether Improvements [Lightroom Classic]

• You can now disable the focus point selection option in Tether Live View within the Tethered Capture Settings window.
• Improvement in the camera connection workflow: if a camera is disconnected while tethering, the tether window returns to camera detection mode.
